a beautiful, airy sequence in a film that is mostly concerned with the mental and physical confines of the title character.
it's a feeling of openness that merely reinforces his inner repression.

I love these photos... I think that architecture can really act as a character in movies... it can have such a dominating presence!

i agree and it really does feature in this scene. that double feeling of expansiveness and feeling really, really small is expressed so well in these few shots.
