Four Sons is amazing. So is The Leopard Man of course. Other than Meet John Doe & Ninotchka (neither a particular favorite from their respective directors) that's all I've seen of this timely assortment.
Happy new year, Brian!
Timely assortment - hee hee.
I'm in agreement with you about Ninotchka. I so wanted it to work and it just fell flat. Some nice set design though. I liked Meet John Doe despite a drop in momentum. I find that with most Capra films actually.
The Bat Whispers, Malu tianshi, It's a Pleasure and El Prisionero 13 I already covered with posts that year. Murder! was good as was half of Julie and Julia. Charlie Chan's Secret, Four Sons and Leopard Man I didn't enjoy very much. Kawaita hana I only watched half-way. Miracle in the Rain was actually pretty good, factoring in the obvious ending.
I'm glad I don't post reviews on the films I watch - I'm too critical to read for entertainment. This forum is about the magic I see in spite of the faults in a film. If I think the picture stinks, at least I spotted a Elgin wristwatch.
