The only thing worse than the imminent terrorizing by an ever-increasing blobby mass from outer space is being mocked from the screen immediately beforehand. Or was the cinema considered a refuge and these beastly faces trying desperately to warn the movie-going public of the real life horror about to intrude?

The Blob (1958)
directed by Irwin S. Yeaworth Jr.
cinematography by Thomas Spalding

I don't love this movie, but I love this scene.
I love this movie! I first saw it as a little one and it just seemed like magic. I'm happy to find it still stands up for me after all these years.
I understand if you don't love this too. You can have all the John Ford you want and I'll keep this one.
